auto repair?
We have a 2000 saturn sc, unfortunately when we recently took it in to get the alignment fixed we found out that it has a bent frame and the alignment repair could not be completed. The tire shop suggested we take it to a body shop for repair. My husband had a bit of an oops on a patch of ice back in february and we had no idea the frame was bent because there wasn't any body damage. We can't claim it on insurance(long story). Can anyone give me an idea, just a ballpark figure of what this "might" cost to fix? I know it'll depend on the extent of the damage but any ideas or experiences would be helpful. I don't want to faint when we get our real repair estimate. my insurance isn't refussing to pay for it, we can't file a claim because the car wasn't on our policy at the timne, it was on my parents because they still legally owned the car at the time but its on ours now and we have the title. its just one of those situations

- Take it to a really good repair shop -- even if your insurance won't pay, ask them for their recommendation. That shop will anchor your frame all around, use lasers, etc. to see how far off the frame is, and use hydraulics to push and pull the frame back to the right shape. My guess is that unless it is tremendously out of whack, they will do it for about $1000
- Get a second opinion. The repair costs for a bent frame on a 2000 Saturn SC could potentially cost more than the car is worth. If your insurance co. isn't going to pay....tell them to align it as best as they can.... =(
- In Mississippi we charge $84 to put it on the rack and measure it, then $65 an hour for pulling time. The people at the body shop will give you an estimated pulling time.
- The frame had to been bent when you got it. it has to have to have a hard lick to bend the frame and it wood have body damage.so much for that. But you can carry it to any body shop and they will give you an estimate.
